The King’s Theatre, which has 1645 seats, is the largest Broadway theatre and the main venue for Broadway musicals. There have been a few famous plays, such as “Carousel” (1945), “The South Pacific” (1949), “Music Man” (1957), “Camelot” (1960), “Serenade” (1973) and “Wizards” (1975).
But the most famous theater is the Phantom of the Opera, the musical, which was first staged on the Broadway King’s Theatre in New York on January 26, 1988, has created nearly 600 million dollars in box-office receipts by 2007, and now the play is still a tough one in Broadway.
