Archaeologists have found that there had been human habitation 4,000 years ago, but this has never been known to outsiders. The scenery was not made public until 1869, when the American pioneer, arm Colonel John Bowell John Wesley Powell, drifted from the Colorado, R. in a small wooden boat. In the 1901, the railroad finally drove to the canyon nearby, everywhere tourists flocked, all revel in here the magnificent scenery. Grand Canyon National Park is divided into the South Gorge, the northern Gorge, and the inner gorge three parts. (You may also have heard of the name of Xixia, a part of the canyon near the west of the Grand Canyon National Park, belonging to an Indian protected area, not within the National Park). Three parts of the canyon have their own characteristics. The highest altitude of the Northern Gorge (about 2400 meters), the probability of precipitation is relatively large. South Gorge is the most popular part of the Grand Canyon, 90% of the Grand Canyon visitors visit the South Gorge, the average altitude of 2100 meters, about 1500 meters from the bottom. The inner canyon topography is relatively low, hidden between the southern Gorge and the northern Gorge, closer to the eastern desert.
